The music reference library of Frederick Gale Ruffner, Jr., founder of Michigan-based research company Gale Research, are now a part of our collections.

The Frederick Gale Ruffner, Jr. Collection was gifted and accessioned to Detroit Sound Conservancy in 2016. The collection has been inventoried with support from Red Bull Arts Detroit beginning in the winter of 2018. Mr. Ruffner, Jr. was the founder of Gale Research, a Michigan-based research company. The collection is largely made up of Mr. Ruffner, Jr.’s personal collection of music reference books.
The collection was open to researchers at Red Bull Arts Detroit beginning May 2019 until the COVID-19 epidemic. Currently the collection is closed to the public.
