Together, we’ll honor the legacy and impact of Club Heaven: a vibrant home for Black LGBTQ creativity, music, and culture. Let’s celebrate this historic moment together!
For just over a decade, beginning in 1984, a vibrant community of DJs, performers, dancers, engineers, club promoters, and especially Black LGBTQ youth united to create a powerful kingdom of expression and imagination at Club Heaven in Detroit. Thanks to a successful fundraising campaign in 2018, we conducted electronic archaeology to restore and rebuild the remarkable collection of amplifiers, cables, drivers, horns, and speaker cabinets that helped ignite the emergence of house and techno music and propelled the global recognition of vogue dancing and ballroom culture.
This special gathering is dedicated to our patrons, supporters, and community partners who have stood with us throughout this journey of preservation and revival. The Club Heaven Sound System Unveiling will be more than just an event, but a celebration of legacy, culture, and community.
