We are pleased to announce that after a two-year succession plan process, Detroit Sound Conservancy’s Board of Directors have named a new Director, longtime Board Member, griot, singer, and dear friend Michelle McKinney.
Please join us in congratulating her!
Without Michelle, Detroit Sound Conservancy would simply have never happened. We are profoundly lucky to have her in the driver’s seat. So just in case you need a reminder of who Michelle is and the soul force, expertise, and legacy she brings to the job, check out her presentation on the importance of preserving and celebrating legacy.
In addition, our Founder and longtime Executive Director, Dr. Carleton Gholz, has been invited by our Board to maintain Emeritus status and a project portfolio which he has accepted. He will continue to support DSC’s vision and mission from the east coast where he is currently exploring new opportunities in public history.
In 2022, we will celebrate 10 years of community-driven preservation activism. With your ongoing support, it is our hope that we will all be able to celebrate that milestone, together, safely, and joyfully at the Blue Bird Inn. You can help get us get to that milestone by becoming a monthly supporter today!
