Abstract: Created by DSC founder Carleton Gholz, #RecordDET was a podcast and oral history program that explored the breadth and influence of Detroit’s music scene through the perspectives of local musicians, radio DJs, archivists, and record store owners. Each interview in the collection dives into the subject’s relationship with Detroit’s music history, touching on the near-universal influence of Motown on a generation of artists, the various club scenes of Detroit and Windsor, and the work being done to preserve and celebrate Detroit’s musical legacy. The subjects each have a unique relationship to Detroit music, and almost every genre is touched on in the collection. A number of the interviews have been transcribed and are available on the website.
