Above: A sampling of the recordings in the Randy Mavis Radio Cassettes.

Abstract: The Randy Mavis Radio Cassettes are a collection of recordings made off the air and potentially in person by Randy Mavis in the 1970s and 1980s. The majority of the cassettes contain radio programs from stations like WABX, WDET, and WDTR. There are also live concert recordings of great quality, including a 1980 Dave Mason show at the Royal Oak Theatre, a 1980 Pat Travers show in Detroit, and concerts by Michigan legends like Iggy and The Stooges and Bob Seger. It is known that some of these shows were broadcast on the radio, and it is likely that is where these recordings originate. The collection covers a wide-range of genres, including rock n’ roll, punk, psychedelic, and early electronic music.
