Abstract: In March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic swept through the world.. All non-essential activity ceased in an effort to slow the spread of the virus, meaning live music and concerts briefly became a thing of the past. During this time of isolation, artists created virtual venues in order to connect with audiences and with each other. This collection captures that moment through an archive of Facebook Live videos from Lullabies From Detroit, a project that brought Detroit musicians to virtual audiences. Each night, a different artist would perform a mix of original music and covers, offer comfort and connection, and occasionally speak to what was going on in the world. The artists who performed for Lullabies From Detroit cover a range of genres and instruments, demonstrating the diversity of Detroit music. The collection is an incredible glimpse into this period in 2020, illustrating the uncertainty, surreality, and isolation that those at home felt, as well as the creativity and comfort art provided. It is DSC’s hope that these broadcasts will soon be uploaded for viewing on Youtube and our website. Stay tuned!
